Indian vs Chinese Empty

So i've been reading a bit of the Bahgita Gita, and it seems to me like its similar to a religion, various teachings and ways of life and practices, that sort of thing. But to me chinese buddhism seems to be more a philosophical exploration, ways to examine life, view the world and self, its too me at least more of a paradigm than anything. Im just curious as to what other people think.
