This is very odd but extraordinarily amazing. researches have proven that slime mold or P. polycephalum has spatial memory, and uses this to navigate its environment. Now i personally find this interesting, because in psychology spatial intelligence is one of the primary areas of intelligence. And memory is one of the most misunderstood facets of the mind. So this brings the question of how a creature with no brain can use a complex form of cognitive understanding to navigate the environment. Perhaps the roots of memory, lay within the consciousness of beings. maybe this slime mold is conscious, and this form of slime trail and chemical manipulation is the only means of communication this creature can use. But this is all just speculation, something to ponder. it will be decades before any means of discovering conscious awareness smaller species is possible. We cant exactly conduct the mirror test on a ball of slime.
