I know this is becoming an ever growing problem in america but now too in canada. The debt collectors buy your bundles of debt from banks, credit card companies, mortgage brokers etc. They buy them in packages with other peoples debt for a reduced rate and then when they collect they keep the total sum. So essentially what this means for people is that you really don't owe money to the financial institution anymore. Its now some greasy corporate crook who will be harassing you to the point where you just cant take anymore. What these companies do is illegal in a very grey area of the law, you have to be careful with how you handle them, be smart for all you students out there this may help.
