Oxycontin to make a come back

This news broke earlier today; the brand name pain killer removed from pharmacies earlier this year oxycontin is potentially going to be back on the market possibly even within a few weeks. This like other drugs is soon to have its 25 year patent expire, this allows any company to begin constructing their version of the drug and market generic copies.

Now there are a lot of possible ramifications that can arise from this. And personally i think it would illogical to bring it back, theres really no need, there are thousands of other opiate derivatives that can do the same thing. But at the same time it can be argued that what difference does it make if there are so many other substances that do the same thing. In reality it will probably be back on the market within six months to a year. I mean the pharmaceutical industry makes hundred of billions each year of singles substances such as this, so they can afford to throw a few million around "lobbying" for their noble cause.

Its the golden age of medicine, you can take a pill for anything.
