An interesting addition to the realm of sexual nature comes from an 18th century novelist, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. The Term sadomasochism derives its label from the name of said author, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. His novellas' themes were highly related to Female dominance and sadomasochism, and it was later revealed that a large majority of his writing is based on his life. Leopold von Sacher-Masoch was the first to bring such ideas into the realm of literature and may be the sole inspiration for an array of modern literary material.

Many people may be surprised to learn that E. L. James and other sexually charged authors have not stumbled upon something new and exciting and are only doing what so many others have done before them.
